Amazon Faces Pressure After Deadly Fire at Indian Delivery Partner Facility
Global e-commerce giant Amazon has announced that it will take action against one of its third-party delivery partners in India after authorities complete an investigation into a deadly warehouse fire that claimed the lives of two workers.
The incident, which occurred on June 5 at a facility operated by M&M Logistics Solutions in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, has raised fresh concerns about workplace safety standards within the country’s rapidly growing e-commerce logistics industry.
Amazon Launches Internal Review Following Fatal Fire
Amazon confirmed that it has initiated its own internal investigation into the incident while awaiting the outcome of the ongoing police probe.
In a statement, the company said it would take “appropriate action” against the delivery partner if violations of company policies or safety standards are confirmed.
The facility involved in the incident was operated by M&M Logistics Solutions, a third-party logistics provider that handles package deliveries for Amazon across several cities in northern India.
According to information obtained from local authorities, the warehouse reportedly lacked several critical safety requirements, including valid fire safety clearance, functioning fire alarms, smoke detectors, and proper emergency exits.
The fire resulted in the deaths of two workers and has sparked renewed scrutiny of safety practices among logistics contractors serving major technology companies.

Although M&M Logistics Solutions operates as an independent contractor, Amazon’s supplier and vendor code of conduct requires all partners to maintain safe working environments and comply with workplace safety regulations.
The company’s policies specifically prohibit unsafe conditions, including inadequate fire prevention measures and emergency preparedness failures.
According to Amazon’s guidelines, contractors found to have violated safety standards can face suspension or permanent termination of their business relationships with the company.

M&M Logistics Solutions has been a significant logistics partner for Amazon in India. Company records show that the firm operates approximately 45 Amazon delivery centers across 21 cities throughout northern India.

Local authorities in Uttarakhand have not yet released the final findings of their investigation, and representatives of M&M Logistics have not publicly commented on the allegations.
