Wealthtech Boom: How Bamboo App and Others to Transform Investing in Nigeria

There is a boom in wealthtech platforms as more people turn to digital channels to invest, with Bamboo being a prime example of how the market is evolving beyond traditional channels of investing.

Bamboo has raised over $15 million and operates under multiple regulatory frameworks in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the United States.

The firm had 106 percent increase in high-net-worth clients (those with portfolio values above $50,000) between 2023 and 2025, a figure representing nearly a third of all trading volumes, although they account for less than 0.1 percent of users.

In the meantime, Bamboo added over 600,000 retail accounts after the launch of Nigerian stock trading in 2024.

Other platforms are embedding investing options into their existing digital ecosystems to avoid the need for multiple apps and are using AI to provide better advice at a lower cost.

The combination of retail growth and high net worth clients is transforming the Nigerian capital market landscape, with digital platforms bringing investment products to everyday users.
