Morocco and India Move to Deepen AI Partnership With New Joint Commission
Morocco and India are set to strengthen their cooperation in artificial intelligence, language technologies, digital public infrastructure and digital skills following high-level talks in Rabat.
Morocco and India are taking steps to turn their growing digital relationship into more concrete cooperation, with both countries agreeing to establish a joint commission focused initially on artificial intelligence and language technologies.
The agreement followed a meeting in Rabat on August 24, 2026, between Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and Jitin Prasada, India’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology.
New Commission to Focus on Language Technology
A major focus of the discussions was the development of language technologies that could make digital government services easier to access for people who speak different languages, language variants and dialects.
The proposed joint commission is expected to examine ways artificial intelligence and language technology can improve communication between citizens and government administrations.
The initiative could help governments develop digital services that better accommodate diverse linguistic communities, particularly in areas where language barriers can make access to public services more difficult.
AI and Digital Skills Also on the Agenda
The two officials also discussed broader cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital transformation and digital public infrastructure.
Another area of interest is the development of digital skills and talent, as both countries look to strengthen their capacity in emerging technologies and prepare more people for an increasingly AI-driven economy.
The discussions also included potential cooperation involving the JAZARI Institutes and their work in artificial intelligence.
Morocco and India Build on Earlier AI Discussions
The latest meeting follows an earlier engagement between the two officials in New Delhi in February 2026 during the AI Impact Summit.
The renewed discussions signal a push by Morocco and India to move beyond general cooperation and develop practical partnerships in areas where artificial intelligence and digital technologies can have a direct impact.
With language technology now identified as an initial priority, the planned joint commission could become a platform for developing new AI solutions while supporting digital government services and strengthening technological talent in both countries.
The partnership reflects the growing importance both Morocco and India are placing on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and technology-driven public services.
